Afterglow

Yesterday's show at The Glashaus was good as usual. The venue is an amazing space, an artist collective of every kind of medium. There is steel sculptures, pottery, paintings, tintype photos and more.
The place was turned into a holiday village in no time by the talented artists I shared the space with, some old pals and new friends too.
One of my favorite things about trunk shows is trading with other artists, I came home with some very cool stuff.
and I can't wait to trade at Renegade!!
Stay tuned for more photos and info on upcoming shows.

What I live for...

Today, through the tip of a friend, I was led to the home of a lovely octogenarian named Marty. She was having a yard sale and had a plethora of amazing things just waiting for the right home. This is just a taste of the
treasure I came home with and Marty was a pleasure to meet!

Baby Steps.

While still dealing with a little artist's block, I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
My mantra is "baby steps". The idea that working on a few pieces is better than working none, seems to be luring me closer to the familiar frenetic pace I will eventually have adopt to get the job done.
So, here's a piece I love and my goal is to post one a day, so stay tuned!

Artist's Block

Just like writer's block, I get artist's block. It happens when the excitement and pressure begins to build whenever I have a busy season approaching. I'll sit and scour through the piles of treasure covering my work space with the best intentions of creating gobs of fabulous pieces, and the next thing I know, I'm baking cookies. Somehow, the inspiration evades me until the very last minute, at which time I then begin to crank out pieces through a foggy, sleep deprived haze.
Today, my goal is just to sit and wire wrap pearls and other beautiful beads and I'm hoping by tomorrow, my inner holiday elf will take over.
I'll be posting pieces as I get them done so that you can have a sneak peek of the goods I'll have at the upcoming shows. I'll post all the info for the shows soon too!

Let's get started!

I'm getting pumped up for the upcoming show season! I have loads of treasure piled on my work station and the cooling trend we have on the way will no doubt fuel my creativity.
The next show will be The Local Color Craft Fair at The Glashaus in Bario Logan, it's the annual fundraiser for the fabulous Museum School and I can't wait to pal around with the other local talent that will fill the unique space there.
Stay tuned for more photos and info on all the events!

Pre-Show Teasers...

Getting ready for the upcoming Handmade Revolution Fall Trunk Show, here's a few pieces you can expect to see there on Sunday. I'm working every minute leading up to the event and I'm somehow
making progress despite the fact that I threw by back out and am now sporting a lovely back brace that resembles a cross between a bustier and a straight jacket.
I hope you'll take some time to come by the show.

4th Annual Handmade Revolution Trunk Show

Well, it's time for another gathering with my crafty sisters of The Handmade Revolution. Our next show is Saturday, September 30th, 2012 go to http://thehandmaderevolution.blogspot.com/ for details.
I've been working on a lot of great things, this travel talisman is one of the pieces that will be coming with me to the show. I've really been enjoying these double and triple strand, chunky
charm necklaces and this one was inspired by my very good friend Brooke Evans. She and her family are modern day adventurers, they live life with passion and leave a positive impression wherever they roam. Recently, Brooke and her family moved all the way to D.C. I really miss having her a few blocks away yet I can't help but feel her influence in my life even with her on the other side of the country.
Brooke was one of the original founders of the Handmade Revolution, in fact without her, I doubt if it would ever have existed. So, I'll dedicate this show to Brooke and the creative energy she shares with all of those in her life.
Hope you'll stop by!
